How about mounting a 600 horsepower, corvette engine to a tricycle frame? That involves some serious forces, and some serious simulation and thought to verify the parts are strong enough to withstand the loads. For this project we were tasked to develop the expected load-case scenarios that would exist based on the weight of the vehicle, weight of the rider, turning forces, etc., and use those to perform a simulation on the wheel knuckle to verify it’s strength. Using Solidworks Simulation we were able to refine the part through several design iterations, reducing weight and maximizing strength.
